A Book Contract!!!!

After lo, all these years, we won't say how many, I finally have a contract with a traditional publisher. They're a small press, but seem nice. And hey, it means somebody besides me thinks my writing is worth publishing. Even got a small advance! Who said dreams don't come true?
They don't have a release date yet for - drum roll, please -

Requiem for a Party Girl, a Cameron Locke mystery

Will post when I know the date.
Main character in the book is the former victim (though she refuses to call herself a victim) of a man who liked to beat up on his wife. She took self-defense courses and finally had the courage to kick him out. Then she became a Private Investigator. Be warned, there are murders and attempted murders, but Cam is a  woman with grit, I think you'll like her.

Running in place

Only two months since last post. Must be on a roll here. Most of the time I feel like I'm running in place and not accomplishing much. Like some others, I'm blaming this long cold winter on my lack of motivation. We still have a chilly wind blowing here in East Tennessee. I'm still wearing a sweatshirt when I go out. Brrrr. So ready for warmer weather. Then we'll have to scramble to get the raised beds ready to do some planting of some home-grown veggies. Can't wait.

On home front, grandson and wife have divorced. But great grandbabies are here every other month. They can certainly bring a house to life. Growing up much too fast, of course. Tyler will be four this year. Grandma Liz is trying to give him a headstart on learning numbers, letters, shapes and figuring out things. He's very quick to pick up new concepts. Loves to 'draw' and 'write' with markers. Connor is not far behind, he wants to do everything big brother does. Together they will be a force to be reckoned with when they get in school.

Personally I'm trying to play catchup with my writing. Published a volume of my newspaper columns, Life Slices, a Medley of Musings after Three Score and More. It's available here, Life Slices from Amazon, or from me.

Getting ready to publish two mystery novels in April. Here is a link to the YouTube video for Disguise for Death trailer for first one. Working on video for second novel. Stay tuned.

I have no idea

where this past more than a year has gone. Much upheaval in my own life and those who share it could be blamed for my lack of posting to this blog. Grandson and wife produced another precious great grandson, brother to Tyler, named Connor. Both are growing up, per the old saw, like weeds. We can actually understand a lot of what three and a half year old Tyler is trying to tell us. His progress in that area is much faster than his father's was at that age. Since Connor still only jabbers, he makes a lot of use of his pointer finger. For both, it's easy to tell when they're not getting what they want. They dissolve either into whining or screaming. :-)

In 2012 daughter and I did some gardening in addtion to assisting in child rearing. In 2013, not much gardening, only a couple of volunteer tomato plants and a few potatoes in a tire ring. We hope to do better this year.

I got some wrtiing done last year, though not a lot. I am determined to get more done in that area this year. Have managed to keep producing weekly columns for local newspaper and hope to compile a volume of them and get it published this year as well as two mystery novels.
